In Cambridge in August 2012 Plot Feeds Ltd company on the basis of national agricultural centre Niab-Tag, Great Britain, conducted a number of experiments on CAD separators. In particular, researches concerned the impact of calibration of wheat with the CAD separator on the change of the Hagbert number (falling number).
Hagbert number – indicator of flour quality, the optimal value of which is – 250. Hagbert number in flour that is less than 200 leads to the fact that dough becomes sticky, bread-crumbs rough, dark with a sticky texture, and noodles or paste from such flour is fragile and soft.
The research was carried out on three varieties of wheat: Hereward, Solstice and Cardiale.
In first experiment substandard material with the low Hagbert number after the first calibration on CAD machine was improved in 2,3 times, and when re-calibtaed in 2,9 times (see table 1).

In second experiment the task was: as much as possible increase the Hagbert number with the help of grain separation on CAD machine. Results showed that in 2,6 times after first separation and 3,5 times during second (see table 2).

In third experiment the task was to obtain the optimal Hagberg number – 250. After the re-separation of it was achieved (see table 3).

Conclusions: Separation on CAD machine – is simple and highly-effective means of improving the baking qualities of grain!
Recommendations: CAD separators are recommended to be used in technological lines of the flour production, especially with low quality of initial grain.
